ABOUT THE FACILITY: The Iowa Tribe of Oklahoma’s Grey Snow Eagle House opened in January 2006 through funds provided by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Services and the Iowa Tribe of Oklahoma. The Grey Snow Eagle House operates under several U.S. Fish and Wildlife permits which allows it to successfully conduct four distinct programs: Rehabilitation, Native American Religious Use, Education, and Research. They Grey Snow Eagle House is the only facility in the country that possesses this combination of permits which allows us to complete our mission.
POSITION SUMMARY: This position falls under the direct supervision of the Wildlife Manager and Director of
Environmental Services. The Aviary Assistant will assist the Wildlife Manager in the daily care of the eagles, daily
cleaning of the aviary, and educational presentations as needed. The incumbent will perform routine office
activities necessary to facilitate the goals and objectives of the Eagle Aviary Program.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: includes the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Assist Wildlife Manager to ensure program activities meet federal and state regulations
Completes daily cleaning of the aviary
Prepares food for eagles on a scheduled basis
Provides all essential needs to the eagles on a daily basis
Assist in keeping a detailed log of aviary activities and maintaining program files
Assist in ordering supplies and maintaining inventory for the program
Assist in outreach activities including presentations, tours, and brochures for Tribal members and the community
Assist with upkeep of the facility as necessary including basic construction
Attend meeting, trainings, or seminars as needed
