Ashley, a Ho-Chunk tribal member with Comanche and Kiowa descent, grew up in the small town of Indiahoma, Oklahoma. Her two loves were wildlife and art. She completed a B.S. in Biology and a minor in Zoology at Oklahoma State University. During her studies at OSU, she conducted research in environmental toxicology and later would travel to Costa Rica to research bats. Her time in the rainforest would solidify her desire to help protect wildlife. In the spring of 2014, she began volunteering at the GSEH. That same year, she was hired as a full-time employee. Ashley is now the current Aviary Assistant Director and continues to use her art to help wildlife conservation. To see Ashley’s art, visit @treeraptor on Instagram.
